Why some songs never see the light of day (2:56)

Going first for The Acoustic Guitar Project…

When I got the guitar, I realized there’s a responsibility in leading it off. I know that this guitar is going to places I couldn’t have even dreamed of.

Then, I don’t know where I was, but something was coming to me, and I remember feeling this is the song I’m going to write for the project. I started working on it, and I struggled. In my mind it was so simple, but now that I was writing it, I couldn’t come up with the lyrics. I realized it was going to be a struggle and I got worried and I thought, “Maybe I should be writing a rock song.” And “Maybe this isn’t the song.” All those things you think, but in the end, I just wrote what was coming out of me.

I think this project gives musicians a chance to grow. Without a doubt, we all need to be pushed to write songs more often.
